Landscape after the War (4DISK, boxset)

Landscape after the War (4disk, boxset)

Year : 2011

The box set 「Landscape after the War」 consists of four controversial works containing the social image of Korea in the latter half of the 1950s after the Korean War; <The Widow (Mimang-in)> (1955) directed by the first female director in Korea (Director Park Nam-ok), honestly depicted the desire and life of postwar widows). <The Flower in Hell (Ji-oghwa)> (1958) is a controversial work by Director Shin Sang-ok about a wicked woman -- which can hardly be seen in the history of Korean movies -- done in a Neo-realism manner. <The Money (Don)> (1958), a masterpiece of Director Kim So-dong, sharply yet calmly criticizes the real state of economy of farm villages that were collapsing after the war and material civilization. Finally, <A drifting story (Pyolyudo)> (1960) directed by Director Gwon Yeong-sun showed the social status and love of widows in the latter half of the 1950s in a melodramatic manner.
