This film tells the stories of students fighting for liberation from Japanese rule, especially focusing on the Gwangju student democratization. Sang-hun (Hwang Hae-nam), son of a patriot who also struggled for independence, is a member of a group named "Seonjinhoe," which is opposed to Japanese rule. Yeong-ae (Jo Mi-ryeong), whose brother works for the Japanese government, follows Sang-hun's ideas. After several accidents occur, the D-day is one night away. But detectives already know about their plan and Yeong-ae is wrongly suspected. With her help, however, the members escape and the day finally comes when the students of Gwangju stand up against Japanese occupation.
