Once upon a Time in a Battlefield
It was year 660, when the three kingdoms Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla were continually at war. Kim Chun-chu of Silla wants revenge on Baekje’s King Uija for the death of his daughter. He plans to join forces with Tang and strike Baekje. When Tang’s supreme commander So Jeong-bang arrives at the western coast with his 130,000 men, Kim Chun-chu sends general Kim Yu-sin to negotiate. Kim Yu-sin is displeased with Tang’s army being here, and So Jeong-bang is offended by Kim Yu-sin’s attitude. He demands that Silla bring supplies by July 10, even though he knows it’s almost impossible. The schedule itself is too tight but more than that, the Silla forces have to pass by Hwang San Beol, where general Gyebek of Baekje is waitingMeanwhile, hearing Tang’s army has arrived, King Ui-ja and the clan leaders are nervous. They try to comfort themselves that Tang has come to strike Goguryeo, but the reports say Silla forces are headed toward Baekje. But the clan leaders refuse to lend their soldiers, and King Ui-ja’s only hope is general Gye-baek. When the king tells him “I think you’ll have to do that,” he understands what his king means. In his resolve to die for his country he kills his own family and leaves for Hwang San Beol with 5,000 men. Battle of cursing at each other, and human chess between 5,000 Baekje soldiers and 50,000 Silla soldiers takes place, and the current score is 4:4.
