Transatlantic

Director : William K. Howard |
1931 | 78min | D-Cinema |
A transatlantic ocean liner from New York to London is boared with various passengers, including Monty Greer who was summoned by the police as a witness but concealed his name, Rudolph Kramer, a lens grinder who puts all his savings into the Graham bank and his daughter Judy, Henry Graham who kept the bankruptcy of his bank a secret from his wife Kay and Henry's lover Sigrid. At sea, Kramer hears the news of Bankruptcy and enters Graham's room. A gunshot follows.
The tense direction by William K. Howard and the brilliant deep-focus cinematography by James Wong Howe make it worthwhile to be rediscovered as a Pre-Code crime film. Restored by the Museum of Modern Art and the Film Foundation with funding provided by the George Lucas Family Foundation.
