Lunar New Year’s Eve arrives around the contract renewal season. Kim Young-ju, a corporate contractor, does not receive the usual holiday gift from work so dearly prized by her parents: the luxurious layered cake from Patisserie Lee Jong-yeh. She struggles to secure the coveted cake during the holiday season. With no particular plan, she heads straight to the boulangerie and runs into Choi Hee-ji, an apprentice patissier who just got kicked out.

When this is discovered by Chae-won, a waste ration government official, So-yeon reveals that she is planning to grow from the seed to make shepherd’s purse soybean paste stew.
