While his wife carries on an affair with a colleague, hospital director Dr. Ko's young daughter goes missing — and is found dead. Consumed by the belief that his wife's infidelity is not unrelated to his daughter's death, he devises a cold-blooded revenge: adopting the daughter of his child's killer and placing her in his wife's care. The wife, unaware of any of this, names the girl "Yangja" and raises her with devoted love.
