The Freezing Point (Bingjeom)
While his wife carries on an affair with a colleague, hospital director Dr. Ko's young daughter goes missing — and is found dead. Consumed by the belief that his wife's infidelity is not unrelated to his daughter's death, he devises a cold-blooded revenge: adopting the daughter of his child's killer and placing her in his wife's care. The wife, unaware of any of this, names the girl "Yangja" and raises her with devoted love. But as the truth begins to surface, one piece at a time, the family is set on an irreversible course toward ruin.
A film that sparked the so-called "Freezing Point boom" alongside its source novel upon release, only 12 minutes of footage had survived — until the digitization of a 16mm broadcast print held by KBS made it possible to see the complete work for the first time. The refined direction of master filmmaker Kim Soo-yong and the captivating performance of Kim Ji-mi, the era's brightest star, do not disappoint.
