(Hanbando bukjjogui jeolgyeong Geumgangsan)
Shorts
From Myeonggyeongdae and Manggundae in the Inner Geumgang area, past Guryong Falls and Sangpaldam, through the rock-carved Buddha at Myogilsang and the Mireuk Buddha inscription by calligrapher Haegang Kim Gyu-jin, on to Jangansa Temple, and finally out to the sea cliffs of Haegeumgang and Chongsokjeong. In just over eight minutes, the major scenic landmarks of Geumgangsan as they appeared in the 1920s and 30s unfold one by one. In 2026, these mountains are no longer freely accessible — making this 90-year-old footage a rare window into a landscape beyond reach. Discovered at the National Film Archive of Japan (NFAJ) in 2025, the archivist responsible for the acquisition will be present to share the story behind the find and the significance of this film.
