Using Odysseus's journey as its foundation, the film explores both the human desire to venture into the unknown and the deep spiritual impulse that draws us back toward home. Dialogue is sparse, allowing images, sounds, and the rhythms of the natural world to convey emotional meaning. The few spoken words belong to a fictional language that blends elements of ancient Greek, Latin, Italian, and English, with the only recognizable word being ‘mother’, a primal expression that resonates with the film’s exploration of longing for home.
