There is an old fisherman living upstream of the Nakdong River. His only daughter is carrying a baby by a young man who stayed at the village for a while. She goes to Seoul to see him but he is nowhere to be found. She works as a prostitute for a while and comes back home with her baby. But her hardships continue in her hometown. One day, the fisherman's adopted son comes back to town with the baby's father.
