As a small town prepares to erect a monument in memory of an IRA rebel killed during the 1920s, an Englishman's bid to
purchase a coveted property causes a stir in the community. This delightful comedy made history as the first Irish film to
be directed by a woman, British filmmaker Muriel Box. Just as impressive as this historical achievement is how the film
manages to covers a variety of issues relevant to Ireland (language, emigration, the legacy of the war of independence
and civil war, the influence of the Catholic Church, etc) and does so with an infectious sense of humor.
