"Being a woman is a nationality I carry around with me. The time when women were spectators is long gone.“

During the Troubles, Maeve returns to Belfast after being away for several years and is reunited with her family. As she re
reacquaints herself with her surroundings, recollections of the events that led to her departure come back. Irish First
Wave filmmaker Pat Murphy's debut film is an important work of feminist cinema that challenges the Irish nationalist
movement's neglect of women's voices.
