“Me and my father. It was always me and my father. Ever since I can remember.
We were the last to fish the fresh water for a living.”

A powerful story of the relationship between father and son, John and Eamon Doyle, set in rural Ireland during the
1950s. News of Luke Moran's death on the battlefields of Korea spreads throughout his home village. Eamon comforts
Luke's sister Una and they fall in love, despite the fact that John considers Una's father Ben Moran an arch-enemy from
the Civil War. When John finds out about their relationship, he makes preparations to send Eamon to America where
the boy will surely be conscripted and sent off to fight in the Korean War. Irish First Wave filmmaker Cathal Black's
poignant film is an adaptation of the short story by author John McGahern and marks the feature debut of actor
Andrew Scott.
