Three castaways drift in a small boat, lost at sea and in memory. As fragments of their pasts surface like waves, the film becomes a haunting meditation on time, loss, and the unreachable shore of meaning.
Mario Peixoto's 'Limite' is widely regarded as one of the most important works in Brazilian cinema and has been voted the greatest Brazilian film of all time in several national critics' polls.  After its premiere in 1931, the film was rarely screened, earning it the reputation of being "the most talked about and least seen film in the history of Brazilian cinema." Following decades of painstaking restoration efforts, Limite was digitally restored in 2010 by the Cinemateca Brasileira and the Cineteca di Bologna/L’Immagine Ritrovata, with support from The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project, Arquivo Mario Peixoto, Saulo Pereira de Mello, and Walter Salles.
