Todas as Mulheres do Mundo / All the Women in the World

Director : Domingos de Oliveira |
1966 | 86min | D-Cinema |
The charming bon vivant Paulo spends his days flirting with the beautiful women of Rio de Janeiro's beaches. One day, however, this professional seducer meets true love when he encounters Maria Alice, a young teacher. He then faces the dilemma of giving up all the women in the world to be with just one.
Domingos de Oliveira's 'Todas as Mulheres do Mundo' (1966) offers a witty and intimate exploration of love, desire, and male subjectivity in 1960s Brazil. Following the romantically restless Paulo and his encounters with multiple women, the film presents lighthearted reflections on commitment, freedom, and emotional vulnerability. Oliveira, whose work is often overlooked, employs a playful narrative style, combining an episodic structure with jazz-inflected rhythms, while subtly engaging with broader questions of gender, relationships, and the shifting cultural landscape of the era.
