The Cinematheque KOFA presents “Discovery, Restoration & Re-creation” packed with newly restored and surviving films between 2nd and 31th of May, 2019.

The section of “Restored Films from overseas” includes 13 preserved and newly restored features by foreign film archives and world’s leading commercial studios, which features rarities from around the world. As a climax to this year’s edtion, it is specially arranged to focus on female filmmakers' masterpieces. It includes Márta Mészáros’ ADOPTION & THE TWO OF THEM, which brought massive success to her and called the classic feminist films, and Ann Hui's debut feature, THE SECRET, which fired the first shot of Hong Kong New Wave cinema. Chantal Akerman, a Jewish filmmaker from Belgium dramatized her affinity for the country in the 1989 film, AMERICAN STORIES, FOOD, FAMILY AND PHILOSOPHY screening in the section.
Besides that, it features masterpieces directed by male filmmakers such as Carl Theodor Dreyer, Kenji Mizoguchi, Ingmar Bergman, Stanley Kubrick and so on.
